He says Google should be using the headline that humans wrote, and if Google needs a summary, it can use the ones that publications already submit to help search engines parse our work. What does the author of that PCMag story think? Some reports on the Commerce Department’s decision have misleading headlines that could make you think the government did an about-face, so I don’t blame you for being confused.
- Like I explained last month, these AI headlines are akin to a bookstore replacing the covers of the books it puts on display — only here, the “bookstore” is the news tab that appears when you swipe right on the homescreen of a Samsung Galaxy or Google Pixel phone, and the “cover” might be a AI-generated lie instead of the truth.
- Alongside an ongoing all-time low on the ultra-affordable new Samsung Galaxy Tab A11+ from $210, we also spotted Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ back to Black Friday pricing at $150 off.
- Apple and Google have agreed to make changes to their app stores in the UK following an intervention from the UK markets regulator.
- Back in 2018, Samsung’s big new camera feature on the Galaxy S9 was the ability to change the physical aperture of the camera on the fly, and now, it might be making a comeback, thanks to Apple.

For those who have more questions about Google News, we are unable to do one-to-one support. This means we try not to allow duplicate content—which includes scraped, rewritten, or republished material—to perform better than the original content. Be sure to have read the material in this area, in particular the content and technical guidelines. There is a lot of helpful information to consider within the Google News Publisher Help Center. On September 7, 2008, United Airlines, which was the subject of an indexed, archived article, lost and later not quite regained US$1 billion in market value when a 2002 Chicago Tribune article about the bankruptcy filing of the airline in that year appeared in the current “most viewed” category on the website of the Sun-Sentinel, a sister paper.

My return to Google News is less about will and more SLU: Agri4D call for abstracts about the lack of better — or even comparable — alternatives. Call me a creature of habit, but Google News continues to fit well into my workflow. The app sticks to its basics without the quirks others experiment with — and that actually works in its favor.

I’m particularly frustrated when I see bait-and-switch headlines on Verge stories, of course, and worried they’re taking away our ability to market our own work. I found another that claimed to be about a GPU maker commenting on the RAM shortage; it linked instead to a Digitimes story about a RAM maker. But Google’s AI has no clue what parts of these stories are new, relevant, significant, or true, and it can easily confuse one story for another. “I’d encourage people to click on stories and read them, and not trust what Google is spoon-feeding them.” For example, Google’s AI claimed last week that “US reverses foreign drone ban,” citing and linking to this PCMag story for the news.
Tip To check what is the found feed’s name just check the title under the feed dictionary The only change is that each dictionary under entries also contains sub_articles which are the similar articles found in the description. If Google captured fewer than 100 articles over the past hour, you should be able to retrieve all of them. Phrase searches are particularly useful if you are searching for famous quotes or proper names.”
In early December, I brought you the news that Google has begun replacing Verge headlines, and those of our competitors, with AI clickbait nonsense in its content feed. Search Google News for recent headlines with source and timestamp. Google notes that over half of early users selected four or more sources to curate their perfect news feed. But this time, I want to share with the community a Python package that makes it simple to get the news data from the best search engine ever created – Google. Top stories, topic related news feeds, geolocation news feed, and an extensive full text search feed. Google News seeks to reward independent, original journalistic content by giving credit to the originating publisher, as both users and publishers would prefer.
